How to use the LBMA times
AM auction, 10:30
Falls in the London morning, before New York opens. It sets the tone for European hedging and often coincides with the build-up to the overlap.
PM auction, 15:00
Sits inside the London–New York overlap, when US data has been absorbed and COMEX volume is high. It is the benchmark most used for end-of-day valuation.
UK bank holidays
In 2026 the days without an auction include 1 Jan, 3 Apr (Good Friday), 6 Apr, 4 May, 25 May, 31 Aug, 25 Dec and 28 Dec. Spot keeps quoting but liquidity is thin. Full table: gold market holidays 2026.

What time is the LBMA gold fix?
Two LBMA Gold Price auctions run each London business day: 10:30 (AM) and 15:00 (PM) London time, i.e. 10:30/15:00 UTC in winter and 09:30/14:00 UTC in summer.
Is the LBMA fix held on UK bank holidays?
No. There are no LBMA Gold Price auctions when London is closed, such as Christmas Day, New Year's Day and Good Friday. Spot gold still quotes, but with no benchmark print. See gold market holidays 2026.
Is it still called the gold fix?
Traders still say "fix", but since 2015 the benchmark is the electronic LBMA Gold Price, administered by ICE Benchmark Administration. It replaced the telephone-based London Gold Fix, which also ran at 10:30 and 15:00.
Why do LBMA times matter for spot gold?
Banks, refiners and funds hedge and settle against the benchmark, so volume and short-lived price moves cluster around the auctions even though spot is already open. Session context: London gold session.
